It is commonly added to fruit juices, water or in everyday baking/cooking. It is known to lower cholesterol, relieve constipation and diarrhoea, and treat irritable bowel syndrome, haemorrhoids and other intestinal problems. It’s’ recommended that you speak to your doctor before starting to use this as a form of treatment.
When used in cooking, Psyllium needs to be mixed with enough fluid so that the husk can absorb and bulk up, reducing the risk of constipation.
